Contact group meeting on methyl bromide alternatives in the post-harvest sector in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, 22-24 August 2007
As part of the work programme 2007 of the Regional Ozone Network for Europe & Central Asia (ECA network), the Ministry of Nature Protection of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Environment Programme convened a 2-day contact group meeting on methyl bromide alternatives followed by a 1-day training for potential methyl bromide users from Ashgabat and 5 provinces. The meeting took place in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, 22-24 August 2007.
The participants included representatives from Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan as well as local fumigation specialist and stakeholders. The meeting language was Russian without interpretation. The objectives of the meeting included the sharing of experiences concerning methyl bromide phase-out in the post-harvest sector, the review of methyl bromide consumption data and the training of local fumigation specialists and stakeholders.
